Fall/Winter Blue Cats

Postby OttumwaCatman » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:29 pm

Me and a buddy are looking to head down to Missouri from Iowa in search of some big blue cats this fall and winter and do some filming. Looking for some tips on where to head. Never fished in Missouri waters before. Any help is greatly appreciated. We CPR everything just looking for some monster blues!

Will, it really depends on water temps as to "where" to fish for blues. Close to structure and ledges that are associated with some structure in about 30ft are whats working for us right now.
Big pieces of FRESH shad for bait. The key here is FRESH, no frozen bait. Moving location a lot untill you find fish is also important. In cold water when you do find fish there will be others in the same spot. So,,, when you find one stay on that spot till ur possitive there are no more to be caught. Good luck and hope to see some nice fish from you.

LOZ and Truman have been slamming for Cats as of late. So have the crappie for that matter. Like Ray said, Shad is the ticket, and find the holes with your electronics and you will find fish.
